Gold Coast 5-piece band Taylor are virtuosic masters of heavy folk-rock and their upcoming EP One Long Breath is a culmination of their extensive collective experience and many years of friendship and collaboration.

The EP drops November 16 and they have recently announced a number of launch shows including Soundlounge Gold Coast with local favourite Karl S. Williams (the musical fool) and Solbar Sunshine Coast. An intimate preview show for family and friends is happening at Junk Bar in Brisbane on 27 October.

One Long Breath is a lyric from the opening track—their forthcoming single Crush Me, and it sums up the venture in more ways than one. David Taylor has penned and assembled 5-tracks that hint, whisper and sometimes roar of chance encounters and pivotal moments. Moments that sit suspended in time, longing to be bottled and sipped by the mind.

‘Whether it be a passing on the street, a first kiss or a tragic scene you can’t erase, these moments define us and are our makeup.’ says David Taylor ‘We replay them over and over, make choices based on them and build a life around them.’

The EP was recorded live to tape at The Aviary studio in Melbourne with producer George Carpenter as many of the greatest recordings of all time have been. It was captured in analogue as ‘one long take’, instead of using a multiple layered approach. This encapsulated the energy and flavour of the moment and expresses an authenticity that will be perfectly suited to the intended vinyl pressing.

‘I took the band to Melbourne to get us all under one roof. Cooking, snoring and creating together was the energy and flavour we wanted to take and capture in the studio,’ says Taylor ‘George Carpenter’s vision and our decision to work out of The Aviary in Abbotsford was instrumental on this album. So we made the choice to track live to tape, reel to reel baby! It’s always been a dream of mine, and finally I had the right songs, players and studio to do it.’

Crush Me—the lead in single, is released October 26 with One Long Breath to follow on 16 November 2018.

Seductive, moody and theatrical, Taylor has honed a style and sound sophisticated in its harmony with the lyrical landscape of singer/songwriter David Taylor’s rich vocal timbre intensified by his impressive collection of virtuoso musicians including Nick Stewart from ARIA award winning band George, Michael McCartney (Ash Grunwald, Jimmy the Saint and the Sinners) and gifted multi-instrumentalists Crick Boue on bass and Scott French on guitar.
